Hers

Description

‘Hers’ has a bit of a special story because I stopped working on it – on request of a friend and potential costumer. She wanted to purchase it for a good price in case I leave it like it is and I agreed on it. Since the painting was agreed to be sold before I published it at the upcoming exhibition, and I stopped working in it, I decided to call it ‘Hers’. As it turned out it was all more or less a misunderstanding on both sides and eventually she never actually purchased it.

Although the whole situation caused a lot of trouble, I learned a very important lesson which I am still integrating into my practice: Know when to stop the work. Because I never intended to stop when she told me to, but as weeks and months passed by I fell more and more in love with the painting and in retrospect I’m super grateful for being told to stop and keep it as it is. Thanks to her.
